Wild Hawg Band
Next up is Wild Hawg Band. A mixture of well seasoned musicians from the area who have been around for quite a while. The talent pool of this band stretches far and wide. We are all about providing high quality music that you can surely dance to and surely enjoy listening to. Gold Star Families: "Gold Star" is a generic term used to describe a family member who has lost a loved one in military service. There are many organizations using the term "Gold Star", such as the Marines for example. The Gold Star Families organization will be speaking after the ride.
Steven P. Kleinglass, the Director of the Minneapolis VA Health Care System: Steven was appointed Director in January 2002. Prior to his appointment as Director he served as Acting Director from January 1999 after the previous Director retired. Mr. Kleinglass was appointed the Assistant Director of the Minneapolis VAMC in June 1988, and subsequently promoted to Associate Director. Mr. Kleinglass served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in charge of a combat engineering platoon in the Republic of Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star and several other commendations. He is currently the Chair of the Federal Executive Board of Minnesota and the Chairperson of the Patient Safety Committee of the Minnesota Hospital Association. Mr. Kleinglass has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in Business Administration.
John William Vessey, Jr. is a retired United States Army 4 star general. He served as the tenth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is the only person who has ever reached every rank the Army had to offer.
General Vessey was the longest serving active duty member in the United States Army. He began his 46-year military career in the Minnesota National Guard in 1939 when he was still 16. He received a battlefield commission during the Battle of Anzio in World War II. General Vessey also served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
After retiring from the Army, General Vessey became involved in efforts to account for military personnel listed as missing in action from the Vietnam War. He made several trips to Vietnam to search for remains as part of resolving the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue. General Vessey was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992.
