What is the Patriot Ride - The Patriot Ride Legacy
100% Volunteer Driven Event!

This event produced and supported by Dennis Kirk along with the help of a good many other dedicated volunteers from the public community. There is no compensation or personal expenses paid to any member of the production team. It truly is a 100% volunteer driven event.

100% of the proceeds have been and will be donated to 501c3 organizations that provide support for members of the military, veterans, law enforcement and their families. Click here to learn more about who they are and what they do.

The Patriot Ride was created in 2006 and has been held annually ever since. This year marks the 12th Annual Patriot Ride and it is going to take place on Saturday, July 7th. The first year it attracted just over 100 bikers and raised a few thousand dollars. Last year we had over 4200 motorcycles participate in the ride and we raised just over $200,000. Since the inception of the Patriot Ride, we have raised more than $2.1 million dollars and it is our objective to raise between $225,000 to $250,000 in 2017.

While the Patriot Ride was created and remains a motorcycle focused event, it has also become an overall community event. It brings many non-riders to the host location as well as turning out thousands of people who cheer on the ride from the side of the road as it travels by.

Primary ways money is raised:

  • Each rider pays $25 to take part in the ride and passengers pay $10.
  • Raffle ticket sales for a new current model year Harley Davidson motorcycle is a very big part of the fundraising effort.
  • The Patriot Ride had 37 sponsors last year. Some companies donated cash, some donated in kind services, some donated merchandise, some donated travel and activities among other things. Click here to view the Sponsors page.
  • Dennis Kirk customers are asked to donate to the Patriot Ride at the time of checkout and many do.
  • Other funds are generated through the sale of t-shirt and event memorabilia as well as pure outright donations.

The Patriot Ride is heavily marketed:

  • 5 Eyewitness News and 45TV signed on last year to help support the Patriot Ride. In addition, we were fortunate enough to have Dave Dahl become the official meteorologist of the Patriot Ride. He was at the event and rode along with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and other friends. He told me it was the best event like this he has ever attended. His words… not ours.
  • ESPN1500, 93X, KQRS, BobFM radio stations are sponsors and continually promote the Patriot Ride through no charge radio spots and support on their websites.
  • Other TV stations have covered the Patriot Ride as a news story on the day of the event. Though they do not commit in advance to their participation.
  • American Iron Motorcycle Magazine is an official sponsor and supporter. They produce many pre and post ride stores in support of the event. Here is a link to one of the post Patriot Ride articles they produced last year: American Iron Magazine
  • Several local newspapers write pre and post ride articles about the event.
  • Dennis Kirk sends out over 20 million emails to market the even and solicit raffle ticket sales.
  • Dennis Kirk promotes the event on its highly-trafficked website (Dennis Kirk Website) and Facebook page (Dennis Kirk Facebook page), Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and Twitter. The Facebook page has more than 750,000 followers.
  • The Patriot Ride has its own website and Facebook page that are used to promote the event.
  • We have also engaged Hubbard Interactive to do social media marketing for the Patriot Ride.
  • The causes and many of the sponsors also market and promote the Patriot Ride in various and sundry ways.
  • All in all, the Patriot Ride has come to have very big voice.

This event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. Please join in with a diverse group of businesses (local and national) that together send a powerful message to those who serve, have served, and the families that support them.

Add your company to this prestigious list!

It’s not often you can impact so many with a single sponsorship. Our mission is pretty simple…

100% of proceeds to this event go directly to four Minnesota based charities that impact the lives of Minnesota Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and their Families.

We pride ourselves in running an event that is open to everyone and includes a 70-mile ride that is projected to include over 5,000 motorcycles.
